Different needs, one solution

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14.6 NIV)

Not sure of how to get to God? Jesus is the way. Searching for the truth? Jesus is the truth. Need life? Jesus offers life.

The religious Pharisee Nicodemus came to Jesus in private to see if he was really from God. Jesus told him that he could not see or enter the kingdom of God without a new life, a spiritual life. Nicodemus learned that all of his religiousness still left him guilty and dead before God, thus unable to see God. Jesus offered new life and thus a new relationship with the Father.

The woman that Jesus talked to at the well already knew that her life was a mess, she had looked for satisfaction yet found none, neither in the water she drank nor in the multiple relationships she had been involved with. She was confused about which religion was right, somehow knowing that if she knew that she could find answers. Jesus told her that true worship was of the Father, in Spirit and in truth. When she understood enough of that to speak of the Messiah who would make it all clear, Jesus revealed that he was the messiah and thus the truth.

Jesus encountered the man who had been an invalid for 38 years who was desperately clinging to the supposed healing properties of the pool of Bethesda, who was hoping for the help of some person to get him into the water. Instead of helping the man into the water, Jesus just healed him. Jesus was the way to true healing, not some waters or other person.

Yes Jesus is truly, “The way, and the truth, and the life.” We may search for other answers, other ways, yet they always fall short of removing the guilt, true satisfaction, and giving the spiritual, eternal life we so need.
