Tomorrow today

“Tomorrow today – is anybody thinking ‘bout/ Tomorrow today” Al Jarreau asks if we are so busy living in the present that we forget about tomorrows child. Jesus tells Martha at the death of Lazarus that she can realize tomorrow today.

We commit two errors, we either tend to ignore the future for the present, or we ignore the present and only think of the future. Jesus wants us to live today as if we were in the future.

He tells us that we can have eternal life, now. We can have peace, now. We can be part of the body now. We can be part of his kingdom now. All of these are present realities for those who believe in his person, his death, and resurrection.

All of these will be realized fully in the future, but we are to live as those who are part of his kingdom

For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,  (Colossians 1:13 NIV)

When we live tomorrow today we will conduct our affairs in a way that does not sacrifice the present in disregard for the future and we will experience today with a taste of tomorrow in it.
