Irrevocable call can be rejected, so today is the day

“For God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.” Romans 11.29

God calls and God gives. He gives even when his gifts are spurned, he calls even when people reject.

God called and blessed Israel, they ultimately rejected and rebelled to the point of rejecting the greatest gift of all the Messiah. God still loves them and calls out to them offering them the same salvation as he offers to everyone who calls Jesus Messiah and Lord.

God calls and offers the gift of forgiveness and hope, yet most reject his call and gift, the fault is not on God that they fail to partake of his offers.

It also appears that a person can reject God for so long that a hardening sets in and it becomes more difficult to turn to God. Is there a point of no return? Only God could know that, but experience shows that some get to a point where a change of heart is exceedingly difficult.

As has just been said: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion." (Hebrews 3:15 NIV)
