My name is Angie Rodriguez, director of “Tea with God”. I am from Colombia and I have lived in New Zealand since November 2016, I am trained as a Professional Ontological Coach.
The Holy Spirit has placed a desire in my heart expressed in Acts 1: 8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
I present a radio program called “Arritmia” (Arrhythmia), which is broadcast by Free FM on Saturdays at 7:00 p.m. Through Arritmia I share my personal story, using my knowledge as a Life Coach to help the Spanish-speaking people of the world to recognise, heal and nurture their soul. My vision is to help people discover who they really are, fulfil their dreams and, above all, to lead a life of purpose, that is where the “Arritmia” Radio Program was born.

God has a plan for each one of us. In Jeremiah 29:11 it says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Our task is to seek and discover that purpose and the way to do it is to restore our relationship with God, through faith in His Son Jesus Christ.
As I move forward in my Christian life, love and compassion is growing in my heart more and more. It is motivating me to accompany, support, inspire, empower, encourage and instruct people. The aim is for them to renew their attitude and aptitude, to explore new ideas, to create possibilities, to realise that they are not alone, and to be motivated into action as they find the purpose of God for their lives.
With the backing of Acts Church, Hamilton, and Ethnic Women Entrepeneur Programme carried out by Shama, Hamilton Ethnic Women’s Centre, I am now running a Christian Counselling Ministry called “Tea with God”, which is born from God’s answer to my desire to serve Him. The Bible says, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” Luke 5:10 and “Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.” Psalm 2:8.
Christian Counselling is the tool that allows us to help and minister to believers who would never go to a psychologist; to non-believers who would never approach a Pastor; and to Christians who wish to share their life experiences.
The mission of “Tea with God” is to simply talk to people over a cup of tea, people who may not know who to turn to, who may feel they do not have anyone to listen to them. It is for people who have lost hope and lost the ability to feel loved by others. It is for those who need spiritual support in order to recover hope, faith and meaning in their lives.
This Ministry is to help both Kiwis and immigrants. It is for those in the congregation and outside of it. It is to help people realise that they do not need to be afraid to ask for help. The daily problems and challenges that we have to face can be managed far better when we share them with others and when we learn to trust in God.
Having a good quality of life is a multidimensional concept. This can be achieved when we have physical, mental, social and spiritual harmony.
The Bible says in Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” and the purpose of “Tea with God” is to have a forum where we can help people to break their emotional bonds and lead a spiritually victorious, full life.
As an immigrant I had to face leaving my work, relationships, home, country, and everything I had known and adapt to a new geographical location, a new culture, new relationships, a new language and a totally different lifestyle. That process of adaptation was accompanied by emotional pressures like anxiety, sadness and depression. I realised that it was not only me who suffered these things, but many people in the country who struggle with them daily for different reasons.
The objective is to assist different types of people with different types of problems. People who do not know who to turn to; those who do not have anyone to listen to them; people who have lost hope and the ability to feel loved by others; and those who are far from God and who need spiritual support in order to recover hope, faith and meaning in their lives.
It is not always easy to find meaning to your life. People question themselves about it, discovering that the existential void is larger than they would like to recognise.
- Filling your life with meaning is a personal decision.
- Filling your life with meaning involves becoming the maker of your own history.
- Filling your life with meaning involves searching for the "why" of our existence.
- Filling your life with meaning means focusing on the "being", not on the “doing". We are “human beings", not “human doings”.
- Filling your life with meaning is to be emotionally free.
- Filling your life with meaning is to be determined, responsible and resilient.
- Filling your life with meaning is to die to what we were, to renew ourselves and allow Jesus to transform our lives until we become the best version of ourselves.
- Filling your life with meaning is to grow spiritually and help others with our testimony so that they can also fill their lives with meaning, giving by grace what we have received by grace.
- Filling your life with meaning is to understand that success and happiness are the byproduct of having a true purpose.
- Filling your life with meaning is to allow your Creator to guide your life. It is only in Him that we find our origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, our destiny. We were created for His purpose.
- Filling your life with meaning is to understand that God created us with a "spiritual need", a desire to fill the void inside and to initiate and cultivate a relationship with Him. Only in this way can we be at peace God, with each other, and with ourselves.
- Filling your life with meaning is to recognise Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. It is to stop running after temporary happiness and to let ourselves be filled with permanent joy, which does not depend on circumstances but on our relationship with Him.
We can be an active part of this process of vital change in people, because we know that “In the heart of every person there is a God-shaped void”. We need to reach out to people who do not know God because if we do not go to them, they may never come to us.
